When to inhale and exhale in sun salutations

Are you new to yoga or yoga teaching knowing when to inhale and exhale in a Sun Salutation is liberating?

Breathing is a very important aspect of yoga. It’s an essential part of life, too, and can help you stay focused on the present moment by calming your mind. If you don’t feel like you’re doing it right or are not sure how to breathe correctly during sun salutations, don’t worry! Here’s some advice to help:

The purpose of sun salutations

Sun Salutations warm up the body and center the mind. They are the first step to a self-practice so let’s get clear on when and how to breathe.

About 25 years ago when I practiced Ashtanga Yoga with David Swenson, he told us to imagine we were in a room filled with water up to our shins. 🌊 @davidswensonashtanga

When our head goes under that line, we exhale. When it is above the imaginary line, we inhale.

For our online training, all these years later,
I had a chance to test out his theory.

He’s right, it works so well. I hope you never forget this demo and you can practice or teach sun salutations for many more years to come. ☀️

Don’t forget to share this with someone who would love this knowledge.

Enjoy your life and your practice! 🤙🏼✨🌊
