What to expect

Session 1: January 31 – February 9, 2020
Integration Period: February 10 – 15, 2020
Session 2: February 16 – 25, 2020

Our Bali Blissology YTT is an immersive annual opportunity to dive deep into the practice, lifestyle and embodiment of Blissology Yoga that is authentically suited to balance the pace and rigors of our modern lives.  If you are looking to either radically shift your yoga practice or commit to teaching, this course is for YOU.

The 200 hour training is a seamless experience that will transform your perspectives on Yoga and how to integrate this evolving practice in a way that nourishes you, your community and the planet.

We will share plant-based, organic meals together so we cleanse our bodies and minds in preparation for the teachings. We will grow together as a community and as individuals; as we support one another in reclaiming our LIFE PURPOSE and living every single day from that recognition.

If you are ready to answer the call of your deepest heart and create the world that our soul knows is possible, let’s create an Upward Spiral together.

We are not offering the LINI EcoKarma Project this February but are instead offering a Blissology EcoKarma YES Retreat the week after the YTT ends, and all the ecokarma projects that are part of the retreat will be open to the YTT students and community to join.

    1. When does the course start and when does it end?
Start: 2:30 pm on the first day of every session.
End: 2:30 pm on the last day of every session.
*These times are subject to change slightly in which case you will be notified as soon as possible.

    2. Where is Bali? What is the airport I fly into?
Bali is a small island set amidst the 17,000+ islands of the Indonesian archipelago. It is approx. 3 hours south of Singapore, and 3 hours north of Perth, Australia. The international airport is called Ngurah Rai International, and the arrival city is Denpasar (DPS).

    3. How do I get to Canggu from the airport?
The ride from airport (Ngurah Rai International) to Canggu (where Cosmos is located) takes about 45 minutes, and costs approx 350.000 rupiah (about US$35 ). There is a Taxi Stand immediately as you exit the airport luggage claim. Best option is to get your accommodation book your airport pickup so that you won’t get lost. Contact them directly prior to your travel.

    4. Do I need a Visa to enter Bali?
Depending on your passport there are 3 options to enter Indonesia that apply to most travelers coming for tourist purposes:

    1. Visa-free entry: majority of countries, free entry, valid for 30 days, non-extendable.
    2. Visa on Arrival (VAO): $35, valid for 30 days, extendable once for 30 days.
    3. Visa needed: apply abroad before arriving in Indonesia.

    Staying less than 30 days
Most of the countries now have a visa-free entry, including the UK, USA and Canada, valid for 30 days but it is non-extendable.

So when you get to the border control, and even if your country is on the list of those that are eligible for a visa-free entry, you have two options: you can choose a visa-free entry or pay $35 for a Visa On Arrival (VOA).

If you decide to go for the visa-free entry, you can only stay for 30 days and cannot extend that visa, which means you’ll have to fly out of the country and then back in order to spend more time in Bali. If you decide to pay for VOA, you’ll be able to extend the visa for another 30 days but it is a tedious process and you will have to pay another fee of $50 – $65.

    Staying more than 30 days
If you are considering staying longer than 30 days, we recommend applying for a 60-day tourist visa in your home country. For most countries, this can be applied 60 to 90 days prior to departure date. It is cheaper and way easier than paying for a 30-day Visa On Arrival and extending it in Bali as you will have to go to the Immigration Office for a photo and fingerprints. (Day 1 of 30 begins on your arrival date).

Visa info for Indonesia (especially pertaining to Bali) changes very frequently. Please do your due diligence and search for what would best fit your needs and desires for your trip to Bali. We suggest applying for the 60-day
tourist visa in your country if you are staying over 30 days—it is much easier and there will be no interruption to your precious time in Bali.

NOTE: Please be certain that your passport is not due to expire within 6 months upon arrival in Indonesia otherwise you will need to renew it. In fact, your airline might not allow you to board the plane.

    5. What is the location of the training?
Blissology Yoga Teacher Training will be held at:
    Cosmos Oasis
Address: Jln. Pura Taman Sari no 22 Banjar Padang Linjong Canggu Bali Indonesia 80351 Phone: +62812 2862 0052
    Email: trainings@blissology.com

    6. Accommodation: Where can I stay while doing the Blissology course?

We host the Blissology 200 hr YTT at Cosmos Oasis, in Canggu, Bali. Cosmos offers a range of serene and beautifully appointed rooms to suit various yogi needs and budgets.  Accommodation options range from singles, doubles, triples and are modern, industrial in style and offer great value for money.  Some rooms include en-suite bathrooms, others have shared bathrooms, but all do offer access to beautiful swimming pools and 24/7 full kitchen access. We highly recommend booking early for the rooms at Cosmos because they fill up quickly. Please click here to view room photos, rates and booking details. Please note that cost for rooms is separate from course fees. We are happy to help you book your rooms at Cosmos. To inquire about rooms, please email trainings@blissology.com.

    7. How do I get around the Island?
You will notice that many people use scooters to get around in Bali. Scooter rentals are usually about $5.00USD a day and $60USD per month. Don’t forget to wear your helmet and make sure your insurance covers motorbike transportaion!

If you have never driven a scooter before and do not have a motorcycle license, we ask that you do not start to learn during the YTT. Please rent a bicycle or walk. Push bikes are available for around $3USD per day. You can also use Gojek, grab taxi, Canggu taxi’s (from taxi stands – one is near the innersection of Padang Linjong and Jalan Pura Taman Sari (the road where Cosmos is located), another is on Batu Bolong at the main intersection near Deus). Uber works as well. Grab and Uber may cancel and reschedule and are usually better off as drop off’s but they work well sometimes.

    8. Why is there a meal plan? What is the food like?
We include 2 shared meals and an afternoon snack a day because eating together is essential to fostering community and connection. Each meal will be a family/buffet style offering so we can all enjoy the same menu together. The food that Cosmos prepares is “healthy food for happy bellies.” Expect a mixing of Indonesian, and European cuisine with gourmet uncooking and locally-grown ingredients that are surprisingly delicious. All food is vegetarianwith gluten free and vegan options available. Cosmos will also have yummy snacks made from high-prana foods as well as drinks like coconuts and smoothies that you can purchase whenever you want some extra nutrition.

If you have specific food allergies we need to know as soon as possible to make arrangements. If you have food allergies and have concerns about the meals, please feel free to contact Cosmos directly.

    9. How much should I budget for dinner/non included meals?
The price of food varies greatly in Canggu. You can expect to spend anywhere from $5-$20 USD on dinner.

    10. Are there any health concerns I need to be aware of?
It is recommended that you visit your GP, personal physician or a travel health clinic 4 to 8 weeks before your departure to Indonesia. Recommended vaccinations often include hepatitis A, typhoid, tetanus and polio. Bali is not a high-risk area for malaria and the tablets can be considered controversial, we recommend that you do some research and make your own decision on this. Dengue fever is another mosquito borne illness to be made aware of.

You might want to bring a prescription of Keflex, or another type of oral antibiotic that can help with stomach ailments. Even though you will be eating in goodrestaurants, there is always a chance that you can get Bali Belly—a mild dysentery that passes in a few days. Bring good mozzie repellant.

Note: For your safety and peace of mind, we encourage you all to purchase travel insurance to cover you for any activity you enjoy in Bali. In the past, students have used World Nomads and Allianz.

    11. What if I need to see a doctor?
There are plenty of international medical clinics in Bali. If you have a minor illness or ailment, you will be just fine. These clinics usually do not accept health insurance, but they do not cost much. Should you need specialized care in a dire emergency, there are excellent western style hospitals in Bali. It’s always wise to purchase travelers health insurance with evacuation coverage. Travel insurance is required for coming to this training!

    12. What about sanitation?
Any hotel or home stay will have bottled or filtered water available, including Cosmos, and most restaurants on the island use bottled water for all cooking purposes. Nevertheless, it is advisable to drink and brush teeth with bottled water. Food carts and local markets carry a greater degree of risk. When visiting the island we suggest you do not drink the tap water. This means using filtered water to brush your teeth with. Filtered water is offered at every restaurant and most locations on the island. This will avoid what we call “Bali Belly”, which is your system’s response to the introduction of new organisms (eco-flora) that are abundant in tropical places; thriving with life, such as Bali.

    13. What is the weather like in Bali?
Warm and humid. Bali is located just south of the equator meaning you can assume reliably tropical weather. May is known as the best month to travel to Bali as it is the beginning of dry season. The weather in Bali during May is quite warm and very humid, though there is not much rain during this time always be prepared for the potential of a quick rainstorm. Expect to sweat at any given moment when you arrive, but you will adjust. The temperature is usually 80o F (27oC) to 90o F (32oC) with 75% humidity. October/November are rainy sesason months so expect it to be humid with high possibility of tropical rain.

    14. Do I need to bring Indonesian money with me? Can I use US$?
Rupiah is the official currency of Indonesia and you’ll want to exchange your local currency for Rupiah when you arrive. There are many places where you’ll be able to exchange money, such as the airport upon arrival, as well as local banks. ATMs are also available throughout the island and you may withdraw Rupiah directly. There may be times that the ATM you choose is empty but there will most likely be another available near by. For most travelers we recommend keeping a few 100$ on you in cash upon arrival that you can exchange and the rest you can withdraw as needed. In general, do keep in mind that Bali is still quite a cash economy but most modern restaurants and shops now do use credit cards too.

    15. What is a typical day during the training like?
    6:45 am – 8:30 am: Pre-Yoga Light Breakfast (Journal + Study Time)
8:30 am – 10:15 am: Morning Asana Practice
    11:00 am – 1:00 pm: Brunch
    1:00 pm – 3:00 pm: Afternoon Session
    3:00 pm – 3:30 pm: Snack/Break
    3:30 pm – 6:00 pm: Evening Session
*Times may vary slightly, depending on the flow of the course

Morning Sessions include: quiet journaling, meditation, practice, Blissology chats, philosophy lesson and circle time.

Afternoon Sessions include: anatomy, alignment work, adjustments, practice teaching, Blissology chats, Blissology rituals and homework.

*Most hours in this course are contact hours with Eoin, Insiya and Blissology Team assistants but some hours are to be spent on homework, practice teaching, journaling, meditation and self- study (Svadhyaya).

    16. How much yoga will we do during the course?
Some days will be more physical than others but expect to practice asana for at least one 3-hr session each day. You will be doing more asana on certain days, while on others it may vary, depending on the course material that needs to be covered. Eoin is very intuitive and will adjust the level of asana if necessary. We ask that you respect your body/practice and take care to protect your joints from injury. We encourage taking rest when needed and growing past your edge with conscious effort when possible. Through this course you will gain knowledge and strength that will surely show through on the mat.

    17. What can I do to prepare for the Immersion?
(they say you need to say Important things 3 times!)

We want to stress that is absolutely essential that you know the Yoga Honey Routine inside out and sideways. We have a PDF for you but please also practice the routine with Eoin—you can either download an older audio version of the routine from iTunes (the podcast is called “Blissology Conduit 58 minute Flow”) or get the newest video version on Alo Moves in Eoin’s Quiet Mind bundle (hint: Alo Moves offers a free trial, then it’s 20 USD/month). Their monthly subscriptions give you access to all of Eoin’s other classes as well as other amazing teachers’ routines. We suggest you learn the Alo Moves version. Don’t worry of any variations in the PDF and AloMoves versions, we will break it down during the course. Be familiar with both versions.

This is one of the sequences you will be learning during the Immersion and you must know the flow and poses intimately. Please have this memorized by course start.

    18. What is the reading list for the training?
    Essential Reading:

Blissology Manual (you will receive this at the training)

Anatomy of Movement by Blandine Calais-Germain

Bhagavad Gita translation by Stephen Mitchell
The Yoga Sutra of Patanjali, Sanskrit-English Translation & Glossary by Chip Hartranft

For the Yoga Sutras and Bhagavad Gita, students can try reading these texts without worrying whether they get it or not. We will unpack the ideas during the course but at least try and let as little or as much as possible sink in.

    Recommended Readings
Although not essential to purchase, we will refer to these books during the course. We believe they will be a good addition to your yoga teaching library:

Power vs Force by David R Hawkins

We ask that you do your best in getting these specific books. Please do your best and plan ahead and purchase or borrow with enough time allowing for shipping if needed. E-books and Kindle form will help save luggage space for traveling.

    20. The application requires 2 letters of reference. What do these letters need to say?
Generally, these letters are character references. Usually they’re from yoga teachers or yoga students. Otherwise, letters from employers are also acceptable. They can be sent directly to trainings@blissology.com. While the letters are required, they’re a formality in your application. If you know you will apply, please complete your online application form and the letters can follow in the next 2 weeks. You can find the online application form by clicking on this link here.

    21. How experienced in yoga do I need to be?
We ask that students come to the training with at least 1 year of solid and consistent yoga practice under their belt.

    22. Will I be certified to teach after this training?
    Yes, you will.

    23. I’ve already taken a 200-Hr YTT. Will this course count for my Yoga Alliance credit?
If you have already taken a 200-hr YTT and are certificed with Yoga Alliance, then the 200-hr YTT can count as Continuing Education credit as Eoin is a certified YACEP.

    24. I cannot afford to pay the entire tuition cost at once. Is there a payment plan? How does it work?
We want to make our Blissology programs accessible to future Blissologists through two types of payment plans. We offer the YTT and the Immersion both as 4 equal payments due every 8 weeks or 6 equal payments due every 6 weeks. There is an additional 5% credit card fee that is built into the plan.

    25. What is the Blissology YTT Cancellation Policy?
We keep our Cancellation policy aligned yet flexible so we can better plan to produce a training that is seamless, transformative and allows you to focus on getting the most out of an experience you have taken valuable time out in your life for!
