        No matter how stiff you feel, just know that in al No matter how stiff you feel, just know that in all my years of teaching yoga. I’ve never seen anyone as tight and injured as I was when I started. ✨

Back then, I realized that if I was a mess now, what would happen if I waited another 10 years? So I put my Ego aside and committed my stiff body to this practice. 

Over the years I studied and educated myself about sustainable movement and how the body works. 

I’ve learned that if you find the sweet spot of the right amount of stress applied in the right ways, your body will last longer and perform better than you can imagine. 🤩

I don’t mean just on the yoga mat. I can hit the lip harder, sprint faster and jump higher than I could at age 18 and I’m now 52. 

Yet, so many men don’t practice because they feel they will suck at yoga and it could offer them so much.

        What makes us tight anyway? Our sports? Sitting to What makes us tight anyway? Our sports? Sitting too much? 

Yeah, sure. But do you know when people are unconscious and the mind is not exerting tension on the muscles, we are ridiculously flexible? 

Each thought becomes manifest in our body as tension.  Anger, fear, worry, stress, resentment, frustration and other dark emotions get stored in our body from the very thoughts we are thinking 

To me, the greatest gift of yoga is this ability to move these stuck places out if we do it with mind-body-ful awareness. 

What I’ve released over the last few decades of practice is that each one of these tight places and the stories lodged in our tissues has something to teach us. Lessons about how I show up in the face of adversity and challenges. They have helped shaped me like the pressure in rocks make diamonds. 

If I just let them go, I haven’t really learned the lesson. In my poses, I find the ways in which they have blessed me, thank them and then give them a space to go. 

I wanted to share my process with you. I hope it helps make your yoga and more importantly, your life better.

Thank the tight places in your body for the lessons they have taught you as you breathe them out in yoga today!

        Before you think that I’m only living the simple Before you think that I’m only living the simple, relaxed yogi-life meditating all day in a cave, it’s not true. I’m not trying to shame anyone for being busy. It’s actually the total opposite: This post is a reminder to my own self that I want to share with you in case it helps. 

I’ve been really pushing hard these days to get books finished and videos uploaded. Running high quality online courses is a massive joy but an insane time commitment. I’ve had many days on my laptop at 5:30 am where I have still been on it on it at 10:30pm.

Ironically, one of the major topics I’m sharing is about HOW WE CAN TUNE INTO SENSATION AND GUIDE OUR BODIES BACK TO PEACE THROUGH YOGA AND EMBODIED BREATHING. 

I absolutely believe in deadlines to stay motivated and to bring our creative projects into the world. Most of the time, if we don’t have solid “by-when’s,” nothing is ever created. 

Having said that, in those busy times when deadlines are looming, it’s extra important to recognize the point at which we have created a LINE OF DEADNESS FROM OUR NECKS DOWN and reset.  It’s precisely when we think we don’t have time for yoga that we absolutely need it the most! . 

It’s a busy world. Making a living isn’t easy. Stressful deadlines will come. When they do, remember this post. It’s way too easy to get pulled into a vortex. When your body goes dead, pull away and restore, even for twenty minutes. At that point, let’s take a few minutes to unplug from our devices and plug our minds back into our bodies again. For the sake of your own health AND PRODUCTIVITY, we need to move stuck energy and do things that restore our vitality.

By the way, we have tons of meditations and yoga practices on Blissology Yoga YouTube that are 5 or 18 minutes long. 

Good luck. Make epic shit happen but take good care in the process.  Share this post with someone who is under a deadline and needs a reminder.

We are not at war with nature.
We are not smarter than nature.
We are part of a very sacred balance.

I’m so grateful to be a steward of this planet.

        There was a time in my life when I never thought m There was a time in my life when I never thought much about my feet. I was like a pirate with two wooden stumps. There was no commutation between my feet, my muscles and my brain.

Looking back, how did I ever have any coordination at all back then?

The great gift of _intelligent_ yoga is that its slow enough to build this mind-muscle connection to our feet.

I’ve written pages and pages, whole chapters on how the feet function and why they are important, so I will keep this summary short.

Your feet are your foundation. In Blissology Yoga we say, “the job of the feet is to make the pelvis more buoyant and the spine feel less compressed.”

If you have sore knees or a sore back, look to your feet. 👀 🦶 

If you don’t want a sore back or sore knees now or when you are old, look to your feet. 👀 🦶
